The Cathedral is rare feature film from Mauritius . Gently lyrical and beautifully observed, the film chronicles a single pivotal day in the life of young Lina. Despite her poor existence, and an eternally demanding and hypochondriac mother, Lina exudes an infectious happiness.
Each day Lina dances in front of the cathedral, which narrates this story. One day, a chance meeting with a photographer forces Lina to make the choice between leaving her family and friends behind her, or staying in her situation and persevering. This is the day that Lina grows up.
