Taxidermia is probably the strangest film at this year's festival and certainly the most perverse. From its opening moments, the film is obsessed with human flesh from a multiple of perspectives. Composed of three tales of three generations of men: a soldier with rich sexual fantasies who ejaculates fire, an obese speed-eating champion and a taxidermist. At the end of each story the connection to the next is established, the film coming together in a twisted and at times revolting whole. But dark and grim as the film is, its also hilariously funny, infused with a deep cynicism, and has a brilliant climax.
Way off the beaten track, this is deviance, sexual and otherwise, at its most entertaining and fans of the bizarre will love it. Just make sure not to watch it on a full stomach!
