Rock icon Marianne Faithful gives her damaged but radiant all to this edgy and delightful British comedy. Faithful plays Maggie, a 50-something widow who maintains her fidelity to her dead husband, and who is desperately in need of money to pay for lifesaving medical treatment for her ill grandson.
In the course of several failed attempts at finding a job, Maggie finds herself in the streets of London 's Soho where a small poster in the window of a sex parlour catches her eye. The poster reads “Hostess wanted”, and Maggie, too desperate to realise the implications of the job, goes inside. And so, tempted by the generous remuneration, and affirmed by the fact that men still find her desirable, the respectable widow comes to work at a city sex club under the alter ego of Irina Palm, so named for the services rendered by Maggie's beautiful hands.
But Soho is only a short distance from the neighbourhood where Maggie lives and her double life soon attracts threatening gossip.
