This tender and vibrant coming-of-age tale is set in a somewhat depressing Patagonian town where the emptiness of the landscape provides a visually broad stage on which to explore the emergence of desire that defines adolescence. 15-year old Lucas and his friend Nacho hang out, ride bikes, play prankish games, sniff glue and, of course, obsess about sex. When a girl called Andrea appears on the scene both Lucas and Nacho are drawn to her. At the same Lucas is clearly attracted to Nacho. Then, one night, a weekend sniffing marathon brings things to a head and alters forever the pair's teen slacker existence.
This honest and revealing portrayal of the many confusions and experimentations of teen sexuality is sure to hit home for teens and adults alike. With fantastic cinematography which perfectly conveys the confusion of adolescence, and a searing Violent Femmes-centred soundtrack, Glue is a moving, dynamic film from an exciting new talent.
